Genevieve, the Crafter

Genevieve landed her first paid job doing a bullet journal for a friend of hers who wanted a pretty journal, but didn't want or think she could do one herself.  She really is getting very good at this whole hand-lettering thing.  She's been working on adding in watercolor to her pieces.  Here are some samples of her work.

Genna loves loves Luna, our newish dog, but she still misses and morns her bird, Hyacinth.  We passed some Hyacinth bulbs at the store last fall and she planted them in our front bed where the floundering rose bushes are.  It was so exciting for her when they came up in February (Hey, it's Texas!) and she bough this bird banner too.

She also used Hyacinth's cage cover to make a memory pillow.  That fabric is on the trim and the back of this pillow.  She hand drew this picture and transferred it on white fabric.  Then she embroidered it all by herself.  Yay!  I always worried that my children wouldn't be artistic because all my first attempts at teaching them various arts did not go well, but I guess I didn't need to worry about that after all.

Our 2019 Tree: The Lowes Skinny Tree

After last year's tree cutting fiasco, we decided to try buying a pre-cut tree this year.  It was taller, and it was skinnier, but skinny turned out to be just what we needed since Luna's cage is where we used to put our tree.  Most importantly, it wasn't deadly and no insects were coming out of it.

We got the tree right when Advent began, but waited to decorate it until Gaudate Sunday.

More Artsy Projects of Mine

I am still working on my hand lettering.  For Easter, I made these two name signs as gifts.

Just before Easter, I had a deadline for a project that a friend of mine asked me to do.  She wanted me to design and draw two picture for her tattoos.  Her sons are nicknamed Joey and Bear, hence the request for a bear and a kangaroo.  They were supposed to represent her two sons.  The original plan to make them Lego animals was a bust.  I tried two different designs for that and it was impossible to get it just right.  Her second idea was to put their favorite signature hats on the animals if that makes sense.  She wanted cartoon animals and posed to be coming out of a frame.  The tattoo artist was going to take care of the frame, but in the end she ended up not being able to decide and chose to leave it open and finish it later.
