A Baby Shower and My First Corner to Corner Blanket

We went to Dallas this past weekend for my sister's baby shower.  She's having her first girl and everything was pink, pink, pink!  The girls and I went to the shower while the boys went to my Uncle Frank's house.

My mom decorated her wrapped present.

I made my sister's baby, Savanna, a crocheted corner to corner blanket.  It was my first ever for this design, and halfway through I ran into a problem that no one was able to help me with.  So I ended up making two halves and "sewing" them together.  Then I added a light pink scalloped border.  I am happy with how it turned out.  I hope it is well loved!

After the shower, we headed over to meet up with ll the men and boys at Uncle Frank's for a relaxing dinner.  Bobby and my cousin's son became good friends while we were here.

More Handmade Baby Gifts!

Two of my cousins had babies this year already, and I was a bit late getting these in the mail.  After several long car trips, I had two baby blankets to show for it.  They were stash busters, but I ended up having to buy just a little more yarn to finish one of them off.  I am already working on baby blanket number three, but I am back to trying another corner to corner pattern for it.  These blankets worked up really quickly because they are the same stitch over and over again.  Super fast and mindless!

I am pretty much not at all a photographer so I did a bad job of photographing them, but luckily I had a cute helper for the boy blanket.  I made a label for this one as well!

AND two trips have sailed by me and made me behind once again on blogging since our trip to Rome!  We are just plain nuts, in case you wondered how we do it.  Insanity.

You win some. You lose some.

Here's a winner! This hat was made from an abandoned sweater of my husband's and some left over yarn in about fifteen minutes. Super cute hat. The model might help a little.

And here's a loser! This took hours and turned out looking like a big waste of time. It was supposed to be for one of my many, many pregnant friends, but I don't think it is gift material. I think I have an idea for a modification of this, hopefully not another time waster. I will be keeping this one though because I think despite it's ugliness, it will make a fine toy...someday.
