The Five Finger Prayer

I have this laminated paper that has this cute "Five Finger Prayer" on it and sometimes when I am doing night prayers with just the littlest ones (usually if we get too late a start on family prayers I have to separate the little ones so I can get them in bed on time) I use this format.

Tried to get a close up, but it's laminated, so glare it is.

The other night when it was just Judah and Bobby and me praying in Judah's room, as is always the case on the thumb prayer, the one for "those closest to you," Judah doesn't pray for his family.  I always do pray for my husband and children for the thumb prayer, but Judah always prays for the same person.  He always prays for his friend, John.  I sighed and said, "You know I prayed for the people in this house that are actually physically close to me.  There are people close to your actual body that you could pray for on this one."  He immediately replied, "You are close to me, Mom, but John is close to my heart."  Ouch.  I guess I asked for that one.

Sometimes I think I can't figure this guy out, but he's adorable in a suit!  His longer hair looks nice when it's combed to the side, but it will not stay without a lot of hairspray.  He says he doesn't like it when it's stiff.  :(

Clark Kent Prays the Our Father

I was praying with Drew while I rubbed Vicks on his chest before bed.  I usually let him fill in the blanks when I say the prayers he is supposed to know.  (All my other kids could say them all by now, but he can just fill in the blanks...when he feels like it.)  Well, I said, "Give us this day, our daily,"  (pause.)  Drew chimes in with, "Planet."  Daily Planet?  I guess the kid is a bit superhero obsessed, huh?

Isaac's Our Father

Isaac: Our Fader, Who art in heaven,
Hawowed be Dy Name.
Dy Kingdom come.
Dy Will be done. What's done, Mom?

Me: Done means finished. (continue the prayer)

Isaac: on earf as it is in Heaben. Give us dis day. What's day, Mom?

Me: All the time we are awake.
(continue the prayer)

Isaac: our daily bwead. What's bwead, Mom?

Me: (sigh) Isaac, you know what bread is. We eat it.
(continue the prayer)

Isaac: And forgive us our tespasses. What's tesspasses, Mom?

Me: Sin, Isaac
(continue the prayer)

Isaac: as we forgive dose who tespass against us.
And lead us not. What is not, Mom?

Me: (Ignore and continue on with prayer)

Isaac: into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. What's evil, Mom?

Me: Evil is the devil. Amen.

Isaac: Ahhhmen.

That was one exhausting prayer! I know my answers weren't the best, but I think he was just doing it to distract us from our prayer since he was asking what bread is. It was amusing to say the least.
