Halloween 2022

Some of the children opted for a giant Costco pumpkin and some chose to pick theirs out after Mass at the "Pumpkin Patch."  Isaac helped the younger boys with their pumpkin carving if they needed help.  They all picked out their own design and drew it on the pumpkin.

Hannah has never liked pumpkin guts so she usually paints hers.  Judah wanted me to paint Roman's like Jack Jack from The Incredibles, so I did a very fast job of it the day of Halloween.

We had a really lovely time walking the neighborhood together, though Genna did have a party with friends to go to so she wasn't there.  Afterwards they came back with an insane haul of candy.  Bob actually started skipping houses at the end and walking with us because he said he just had too much.  Our neighborhood even had margaritas and chocolate fondues.

Here's Bob after some kids dumped their candy and went back out for more.

Pumpkin Patch and Pumpkin Carving

We bought our pumpkins from the church's little patch they do every year as a fundraiser for AHG.  Brian was out of town at the Packer's game.  They had to be able to carry their own pumpkin.

They picked a tiny pumpkin for Roman.

I carved Bobby's cat, but everyone else carved their own.

Totally obsessed with Harry Potter right now

Genna did a Whataburger pumpkin, but it withered by the next day because of the thin lines and attachments, and I didn't get a picture.  Hannah didn't carver hers again this year.

Pumpkin Patch 2020

Instead of family dinner one Sunday in October, we went with my my sister's family to a "Pumpkin Patch" which turned out to be more of an area that they charge you to get into (under a overpass) and they bring in pumpkins and dump them on the ground.  Not quite the pumpkin patches we had in Germany or Maryland where we rode a tractor out to a big muddy field and picked our pumpkin straight from where it grew followed by getting some cider or hot chocolate at the end when we paid for the pumpkins.  There was plenty to do, but most involved more money.  The petting zoo here was fun though, and it's always great to have fun with cousins.

There was a turkey in a pen with a bunch of ducks.  Ducks are still Bobby's favorite, and so he and I went back to see them after getting a pumpkin.  The night before Brian and I had been in a turkey calling contest and won somehow although I had just learned to do the female turkey call.  It suddenly occurred to me that I could try out my new skill.  The male turkey had been wandering around the middle the whole time and wouldn't come near the side.  I did my female turkey call a bunch of times, he stopped an looked at me, then started coming closer and closer till he was right next to the fence.  I was so surprised that it actually worked.
There was a hay maze for little ones and a few swings too.  Dylan and Savanna rode a horse, but when I asked Dylan if he was going to ride he told me they were too stinky which is funny because he has such a sensitive nose for a young boy.  The kids had fun, and the pumpkins weren't too expensive which was good since we have to get six.

More Pumpkins: The Zoo Edition

This first picture is from after we went to adoration at our church during a school day.

This was a different day when we made time to use our zoo passes before they expire.  Pumpkins everywhere!  The boys all picked out a few animals to go visit and we took a bunch of pictures.

If you look closely, you'll see a lizard staring down Drew.  He came from the back when he saw us at the window and walked right up to look at us and give us the eyeball.

Isaac did nearly all the carving this year.  I just carved Bobby's after he came up with the design idea.  In fact, Drew and Judah also came up with their own designs as well, but didn't want to do their own carving yet.  Genevieve carved her own, and Hannah, as usual, didn't carve hers.
