Sweater refashions

It's a sweater, no it's a pillow...

Now it's an apron...

What a great model! Here's the back!

And finally a side view! He really does it all!

My husband's pile of old sweaters has been fun to play with! The pillow was a lumpy old couch pillow that had been played on one too many times. It's still lumpy, but at least it is cute now. The apron didn't turn out quite as cute as I had thought it would. It was quick though. One lonely husbandless evening and it was done. I left off the pockets because I could not get the ribbing to line up and thought I would further be butchering the apron. I made this for my nephew who is Isaac's age, and I think it is a bit long. I hope his parents allow him to wear it. It kind of looks like a dress a bit. I may try another one and see if I can learn from my mistakes here. It was supposed to look like this halter apron from Green Kitchen.

Cheerios

Genna called them "Deebees" when she was a baby. Isaac's version of the word, "Cheerio-os."

We all get such a kick out of this! He's enjoying the attention. Why do all my kids like to be the center of attention?

It just made me smile. That's all.

Tonight I was folding six loads of laundry while watching Julie and Julia when I came across Hannah's pillowcase that she colored. It was one of those pillowcases that has a drawing and special crayons to color it. So it was perfectly fine that it was colored and all. That's not what made me smile. It's the notation she made beside the colored-in Cinderella. She has a tiny stray mark crossed out in a hugely dramatic way. Then, next to it, she wrote in the typical kindergartner large letters, "Genna mest up my paige." Insert smile here. I remember being amused at this when I saw what she did at the time, but it stills cracks me up that she would take an almost completely unnoticeable mark that her sister made on her pillowcase and turn it into this huge attention drawer. She is just so Hannah, it kills me! And I love every bit of her! Thank you God for my children!

Our brand new...

Belgian wine bar!

And we love it! It was our one big European furniture purchase and I already know why we don't have a bunch of nice furniture. It is too stressful with little kids, worrying about them ruining it. Although the movers will probably do that for us anyway, right?

The inscriptions, by the way, were chosen by my husband and his friend. The top one says"Laetare" which means "Rejoice" in Latin ("gladdens" in modern translation), and the bottom inscription says, "Ps 104:15."

Wine that gladdens the heart of man, oil to make his face shine, and bread that sustains his heart. -Psalms 104:15

Momma's so smart!

I am so smart that I bought these cute little reusable cones for ice cream ON SALE. They are push pops that you fill with the ice cream. The box even had a cute little picture of a kid with an immaculate face eating his chocolate ice cream. Sold! So why did my child, her clothes, and the floor look like this?

I started to clean it up and thought it was too funny not to take a picture of it! How did this happen? Well, it got stuck and as I was crossing the room to come help her with it, and it got unstuck! Not pictured here were Hannah's chocolate covered hands and Isaac's totally chocolate smothered face. So buyer beware! You will not have a spotless child if you buy these!

All things machine!

He loves them! I'm talking construction trucks, cars, 18 wheelers, trains, airplanes, helicopters, lawnmowers, vacuums, sewing machines, hair dryers, copy machines, and washing machines. When he hears the water start running he quickly helps me throw in the clothes and then grabs the stool and climbs up to watch it "go 'round 'round." He also likes to stick his hand in the water. Sometimes I'm afraid he'll fall in he leans over so far.

He's been helping me unload the dishwasher too without any encouragement. He just comes right over and starts unloading the silverware into the drawer in a heap. It's kind of funny, but not super helpful!

Cheap fun!

After getting home from the grocery store, I had an idea to keep this guy busy. He plays cars constantly when he's not playing trains. So I set up these ramps for him. The paper towel tube was the most popular with him even though I liked the other one better since bigger cars could go down it.
