Our Last Big Trip in Europe

After our house was down to the bare necessities and the temp furniture, it seemed like quite perfect timing to leave for a six day trip, our last big trip together as a family in Europe for the foreseeable future.  This trip was to check off our last two boxes on our bucket list that we planned out when we first found out that our tour here was going to be cut a year short.  Spain and Provence, France were the last two things on our list, with the exception of Greece, which we decided was going to be too hard to do and took it off our list early on.  (Although Brian was able to make a very quick trip to Greece to meet a friend for a couple of days, I never made it.)

The first day was mostly driving, but we did have time to get settled in our apartment in Monteux and go into town for dinner in L'lsle-sur-la-Surgue.

Fun Times in the Van

We walked all around the town to get a feel for it and tasted a couple of sweets from the bakery that looked unique.  Then we settled on a restaurant right on the water that had some pretty great kid's meals.  They got a hamburger (in France that often, but not always, means a hamburger patty without a bun) with fries, a dessert, and a syrup.  The syrup comes in a concentrated form with a pitcher of water to add to it.  They chose their own flavors and were all quite pleased with a drink coming with the kid's meals.

Brian had a steak, but I was good and got a salad.  However, I wasn't good for long because after I tasted the kids' chocolate torte, I ordered one for myself.

The dessert was amazing!  It was a chocolate torte..
