When the train doors shut, you better be on the same side of them as us.

Nope, I'm not done with the endless day trips.  The next day we woke up and headed straight to the Rhine River in Bingen.  We got on a day cruise boat.  We have done this many times, but it is always a big hit for our visitors and it is a little more relaxing and slower paced.

Passing a Castle!

It was a beautiful day!

The top floor is all open and had a pretty awesome play area for the boys.

When we stopped in St. Goar to go to a particular shop.  The guy who owns it, Stefan, is Catholic and always so nice to us.  We usually taste a few of his wines or liquors and buy something, but we always leave with so much more than we paid for because he is always giving us gifts, usually Catholic ones.  This time was no different.  We were there a long time, and the kids got hungry and restless.  We must have gone to lunch, but I don't remember it at all.  I have definite proof that we got ice cream before heading to the train to get back to our van in Bingen.

Here's the proof!

We got on the train and all sat together in the high back front facing seats. The moms took some kids to the bathroom and then came back to sit.  This train ride was their first and on the bucket list the kids had made for our friends.  Brian was giving us the count down on stops when we got close.  And then the stop was here and we all got up and were moving towards the doors when the girls shouted out, "Isaac and R went to the bathroom!  They're not here!"  We all panic because that has never happened before.  Never has one of my kids wandered off on a train.  I always tell them our main rule on the train, "When the train doors shut, you better be on the same side of them as us."  I was in shock that Isaac would have done that when he knows how serious that is.  This was not his first rodeo!  He's been on more trains than we could possibly count.

Anyway, Brian saved the day by rushing back to extricate them from the train out of different doors while we  made sure everyone else got off okay.  Turned out he made it and no one was IN the bathroom which is what I was worried about.  Luckily, the girls were watching out for them and told us in time so those doors didn't close before they got off!

That night we fed the kids at home, put the littles to bed, and set the bigs up with a movie so the adults could have one night out alone before they left in just two more days.  Since it was a Wednesday, we couldn't go anywhere else, but Zum Storchennest for Schnitzelabend (Schnitzel Evening).  There is a menu with twenty kinds of schnitzels and I have had all of them (minus the seafood ones).  Delicious!

Afterwards we walked over to look at the storks.
