Paper Boy

Isaac has been trying more and more words the last few days. He is liking two word phrases a lot lately. For example, he is saying things like, Did you?, Love you, Ashes ashes, All fall down, and Excuse me. He is also saying Bubble, Pop, Kaboom, Papa (my dad), Bubba (what I frequently call him), Hat (with sign), Pizza, Diaper, and Spoon. I always forget many of them during the language explosions, but you get the gist.

"Did Jesus make all these people?"

At Mass yesterday, Hannah leaned over to me and whispered that question. I said, "Well, yes, God made all these people." She replies with, "Well He sure did make that girl next to me have very curly hair. I mean very curly!"

Sunday Sibling Talk: A breakthrough!

The kids all tyhree played together multiple times this week without anyone getting left out! My friend, Elizabeth, commented on a previous post that as Isaac got older, they would be able to play all together nicely. I had my doubts, but I have already seen an inkling of it this week. The photo above is Genna playing teacher and Hannah and Isaac are her students. I was very surprised Isaac was interested in this game. He sat on the couch just like he was supposed to and laughed at the girls as they tried to teach him how to do things, like say his ABC's. Funny how fast things change. I still want an even number of kids though!

Heavy Weight Champion

Isaac will be 15 months on the 9th and he is now weighing in at 27 lbs! A mere 7.5 lbs less than Genna and 9.5 lbs less than Hannah. He's gained 2 lbs since his first birthday.

Nothing much is going on around here. I am helping out with my brother's rehearsal dinner and the programs. I can't wait to post pictures of the centerpieces and the place cards. Plus, I have been working on several craft projects that are all still in the works right now. I am making doll clothes, a doll tutu, and my Jesse tree ornaments for the Jesse Tree Swap. Also I am finishing the doll quilt I started in my quilting class. Sorry there's not much to post yet! I'll be at another family wedding tomorrow. So see you when I get back!

Party in the USA!

Hannah's actual birthday isn't until November 26th (falling on Thanksgiving this year,) but we decided to have a little family party for her while we were here. Her dad will not quite make it back in time for her real birthday, and I was hoping this would make up for it. I think it just might have worked. She had a great time! The down side was that none of the kids in the family could make it due to illness and other things. I had already made the favors when I got the cancellations so we sent them home to the kids that were supposed to come anyway. There were still lots of people including my aunts, cousins, and grandmother that were able to come.
We decorated with My Little Pony balloons and streamers which somehow didn't quite make it into my pictures. The cake, per Hannah's request, had a My Little Pony sitting on top of it. I found a pastel rainbow ribbon to go around it and piped some pink flowers and added a few flower sprinkles to finish it off. It looked pretty, but we won't discuss the taste. Let's just say while making the cake I got distracted, and it turned out to be sugar-free! That was not on purpose. And I didn't quite notice until after the party was over because that's when I finally got around to tasting it. Thinking back over the process, I realized then what was missing. Yuck, and how embarrassing! God bless my family for not saying anything! After I realized what happened and told my mom, she teased me that I should have used a box cake instead. I had, of course, previously balked at the idea of not making it from scratch, but now I wish I had listened to my mommy! How many times in our lives, do we end up saying that! My sweet birthday girl told her Aunt (who had missed the party) that is was delicious, even though I couldn't even finish my small piece because it was so awful! It's OK! I'll just pick my pride up off the party floor and carry on because we're not discussing the taste, remember? :)
I was so very proud of my big (almost) five year old for being so gracious during the gift opening. After each gift, she ran over to the giver and hugged and thanked them thoroughly! Then at the end she stood up on the fireplace and made a mini speech to thank everyone again without being told. While she was up there, it was requested that she perform, of course. So she did a little ditty she learned in German school about a train. Then Genna, feeling severely left out and "stuck in the middle" by this point, got up there and sang Twinkle Twinkle. As the party wound down and people began to leave, Hannah sat with my cousin, Zach, whom she adores, and he read one of her new books to her.

My mom, my petite girls, and my big guy!

Here's Genna performing Twinkle Twinkle on the fireplace. I wish I had reached my camera faster to get Hannah giving her speech!

All Our Saints for All Saint's Day!

Yesterday we made eight saints out of mini popcycle sticks, felt, and foam. I got this idea from this creative mom. Her spoon saints looked much cuter than our popcycle ones. This craft turned out to be just a bit difficult for the girls even though I did all the cutting and put them in individual kits. Hannah needed less help, but she way overglued and it took all night for them to dry. I'll have to come up with an easier way to do this next year. I am thinking that contruction paper or card stock would definitely have been easier for them to glue than the felt. I ended up stapling them in a few places because the glue wasn't holding up. I covered the staples on all of them except for St Francis of Asissi. I chose our family patron saints and a few others that are favorites. And, of course, the Queen of Saints could not be left out!
From left to right on the back row: St. Martha (my patron saint, holding a broom), St. Genevieve (Genna's saint, holding a candle), Mary Queen of Saints(with a crown and a heart), St. Clare (Hannah's saint, holding a monstrance). Then on the front row: St. Agnes (holding a lamb), St. Francis of Assisi (holding a bird), St. Alban (Daddy's saint, with a sword), and St. Thomas the Apostle (Isaac's saint, holding a scroll).
The girls also made pumpkins on paper plates.

The girls and I started all these projects in the morning during Isaac's nap, but they got bored and so we finished it all up while they were dressed in costumes (from their Mimi's dress up box) and we handed out candy to trick-or-treaters last night.

Ashes, ashes...

We all fall down!
Isaac loves Ring Around the Rosie! It is actually his first song to sing. He sings "Ashes ashes" and then also "all fall down." Here they are doing the actions, but even if he had been singing along this time, no one would have a chance to hear him. As usual! I really think that is why he isn't too big of a talker. There is just too much talking going on in this house all day long!

We did All Saint's Day crafts today and are getting ready for a little (early) family birthday party for Hannah tomorrow. Our craft is drying (way too much glue!!!) so I will post it later when I can get a good finished product picture. Can't wait to see if everything holds up!
