If it doesn't have a tail, it's not a monkey!

I officially handed over my position as head of the local Catholic homeschooling Facebook page and the weekly homeschooling gym days.  My friend that took over planned a ton of really fun field trips within about an hour's drive for our old gym days for the summer.  We had already been doing a few like that, like the barefoot path and the Church in the Rock.  This week's, while Brian was in Scotland and we still had our van was to another Wildpark in Freisen.

It was a scorcher (at least to us) and we lathered up with sunscreen before heading into the park.  There is a path that goes around the park and some animals are caged, while many roam free.  With your ticket in, they give you a bag of food to feed the animals that are not caged.

Bob was unsure about getting a picture with the pig, so he moved as far away as he could so I could take the picture.

The deer literally walked right up to eat out of your hand!  It was amazing!

There was an ape enclosure, but, as you'll see, at a set time everyday when the apes are brought fresh fruit, the people are allowed to go in and observe the monkeys.  The man that let us in gave a very brief set of instructions in German, most of which I missed, but we thought the rules were no touching the apes or their food and to stay in the railed off area.

The children are really going to miss their friends and this was a really special day to make memories to take with us when we move.  It just made my heart so happy to see my kids all with their own friends, laughing and helping the younger siblings along the way.

This is Brian's godson and he is super in love with Isaac!  It is so cute!

Bobby and his ducks!

A nursing baby

The baby would just hang on to his Mama when she moved around.

I can't say that I wasn't a little nervous about so many kids being in with these apes and so close, without enough adults to really keep a close eye.  Apes carry far more diseases that humans can get if bitten, and animals are unpredictable.

The falcon show was definitely not as impressive as the one at Potzberg, but it was still pretty cool.  The birds flew right over our heads.  Several of us, including Genevieve and myself, got wing feathers touching our face as they flew by.  Genevieve and I are big bird people so it was perfect!  We loved it!

Look at this!  That's Genevieve leaning back.
