St. Therese, pray for us

We made St. Therese beads, also called Sacrifice beads, for her feast day.

Hannah was a little down because her string wasn't going through the bead a second time very easily. You know how she is if things aren't perfect.

Genevieve, on the other hand, had trouble at first, but then finished hers pretty quickly. This made it harder on the firstborn perfectionist, of course. Luckily, Genna isn't the type to rub it in. She was probably not even aware that she was going faster.

Isaac didn't make one, but he wanted to bead, so I gave him a pipe cleaner and beads. He had fun and perfected his fine motor skills.

Here is our family altar (still in progress.)

All week long, we read about Therese and her sacrifice beads in the Catholic Children Treasure Box, books 1-6. The sacrifice beads are to count your gifts to God throughout the day. Whenever you do a good deed for God (AKA make a present for God) you pull a bead closer to the crucifix to keep track and offer them to God during you nighttime prayers.

They all colored a picture of St. Therese as a child. I think so that we don't lose these sacrifice beads we will keep them on the altar for now, at least. They are supposed to be kept in your pocket, but the girls rarely have pockets and even if they did, Genna would be sure to loose them.

Here is Hannah's, up close.
