Spelling Power

Typical Genna...when she should be working she is goofing off.
We are switching Spelling programs.  We were doing Spelling Workout, and they finished their workbook.  The girls are both pretty bad spellers even though the rest of the subjects are above grade level.  I was torn between Spelling Power and All About Spelling and I had someone lend me this book to try out for the rest of the school year.  We've been doing it a week, and so far I like it.  It is more teacher involved than what we were doing before, but that wasn't working out so maybe that's just what they need right now.  Spelling Power uses the test, study, retest method which is kind of nice.  You don't waste your time on words that they already know how to spell.  Both girls took placement tests and were supposed to start on the same level which is good for me.  They are starting on Level C.

Hannah's rocket drawn with her misspelled spelling words is under the book.  She drew the rocket and then flipped the paper over to write the spelling words over and over all the way around the outline.  She was very excited about this project.  It was one of the reinforcement activities in this book.
You can see a little better, the cursive spelling words "rocket" and "hockey."
Here's to great future spellers!

Brooke is a horrible speller too. Whenever she writes something I cringe and think her teacher should be fired.Maybe we shouldn't sweat it, spell check is all the rage. :)
