A Fiery Temper

Genevieve is mostly a super sweet-natured little girl, but out of no where a fiery temper tantrum can arise! It is a little scary actually that such a sweetie can turn so mean on a dime. Granted it isn't very often, but still! She went back to school today after being home sick for several days. She decided when we got there that she no longer wanted to go. She started crying. I tried to get her to play and get interested in something, but some kids were disrupting my efforts. When the teacher said to go ahead and go (that it would only be a minute until she was okay,) I left. From the car I saw the fit starting and hung around outside a bit to see if they would come to get me. I finally decide to just go, and they called me the minute I walked in the door at home. So I returned and stayed with her for a while to try to get her to play and have fun. She did pretty quickly go off and play. I spoke with the teachers and the Sister that runs the school, and we decided I could go for a short while and then come get them early. So I walked down to the grocery store and got ice cream (a reward for her letting me leave) and other things. When I came back they met me at the door to tell me to go a little longer because she was happy and not asking for me yet. So I ended up picking them up in time for lunch. The Sister said that Hannah would cry, but be content if you held her for a while (back when she was having trouble), but that Genna is fiesty and has such a temper. This was, of course, what I got out of the conversation with my pitiful German and some hand motions, but I think that's the gist of it. So, tomorrow I have to stay again and then leave them for a tiny bit longer.

They kept asking me what happened and what was different today since she was so great last week. All I could think of was that we chatted with Daddy this morning on the webcam before we left. She really misses him. Tomorrow she wants to take her "Daddy Record" with her to school. It is a little box that plays a message he recorded for her when you push the button. Today she was talking back to it saying, "I love you and I miss you. And I can't wait to see you too, Daddy." How sweet! I wish I could make this easier for them! If I could do that, I guess I'd make it easier for me too. Parenting is much easier with two.
